Minister: Tabriz 2018 to contribute to Iran, regional development

TEHRAN - "Tabriz 2018" will offer an opportunity to raise awareness of Iranian culture and literature in the world and contribute to the development of Iran and the region. The Iranian city of Tabriz has been chosen by the Organization for Islamic Cooperation as the capital of Islamic tourism for 2018 because it represents a symbol of Islam and is considered the first capital of the Shiite Muslim world," the Iranian minister continued. The ninth session of the Islamic Conference of Tourism Ministers, held in Niamey, Niger, has designated Tabriz, in Iran, as the capital of Islamic tourism for 2018.
