Summer Celebration
 
The ancient Persians celebrate the end of Tamooz which starts with the beginning of the longest day of the year, the 22nd of Jun, the warmest 40 days of summer will ends on the first day of August. The festivities that take place in Jun to August are usually festivals that are held in praise of water, greenery and joy in ancient Iran. Tamooz as well as the Tirgan celebration is held for praising water, which has considered a sacred element among the ancient Iranians.
Nowadays in some villages in Iran the Tamooz is celebrated with rituals such as cleansing, restoration, plant maintenance and then singing, dancing, and praying for the prosperity and joy.
