Savad kuh

Travelogue of Savadkuh, the Green jewel of Mazandaran

Traveling always makes us feel good, especially as we breathe in the beautiful highlands of Mazandaran, As Mansour Zabetian says in Markopoulos’s book: people reach the destination after a reason, perhaps because of a temptation, a glance or a sweet memory. What seduced us to take our backpacks and hit the road was the beauty of the stable mountains of Savadkuh, a breathtaking view of the Caspian Hyrcanian forests and the beautiful Veresk bridge which is a great Ecotourism destination.

The excitement of traveling had snatched the sleep from my eyes, it had not yet dawned when I arrived at the train station. Seeing my fellow traveler, I felt great, people of all ages, sleepy children, the young ones, all with backpacks and cameras, ready to capture the unforgettable moments, the elders had prepared themselves to enjoy the fresh mountain air, happy to avoid the bustle of Tehran just for one day. Specially if you are heading to one of the most beautiful areas of Mazandaran, the Savadkuh, which has gained the title of tourism paradise due to its enchanting beauty.
With the whistle of the train, everyone cheerfully headed to their seats, looking forward to plunge into the beautiful world. The train guide began with a greeting and a story about the history of railway transport and trains in Iran. Crossed the fertile plain of Varamin in the south of Tehran, seeing vegetable farms such as eggplant and tomatoes, admiring the beauty of the morning, gradually the green plains fade into desert color; And the edge of the Garmsar desert turned orange at dawn, unsurpassed images of the Salty Mountains sparkled in the morning sun, like diamonds. Seeing these images, our appetite grew; The breakfast that the group prepared in paper bags reminded us that we have only one earth, the motto of this tour was NO TO PLASTIC PACKING!

The breakfast was nutritious and healthy a pack of boiled egg, butter, cheese, honey, chocolate milk and bread. After breakfast, we arrived at the Bon-e Kuh station, filled our lungs with fresh oxygen and returned to the train, from the train window we saw the beautiful landscapes of Kabutar Darreh, Simindasht and Zerrindasht, an extraordinary combination of nature and industry, roads and rails that beautifully outlined nature, it was magnificent.

The following stations were the Veresk bridge, Do Ab station (Savadkuh) and the beautiful village of Shurab, where people are simple and with souls as transparent as crystal. We went to a local market where the friendly villagers were selling their products such as hot pottages, organic fruits, aromatic herbs and traditional handicrafts . our soul was pleased, we had a pleasant winter experience in the autumn playing snowballs on the outskirts of the Shurab mountains. For us city dwellers, this was unusual. Children and adults, in their colorful scarves and hats, were chasing each other with snowballs, and young ones took selfies for posting on Instagram and Facebook, it was truly a great place to record beautiful memories.
After all this activity, it was already lunch time with a delicious Iranian cuisine , little rest and a gentle Iranian music in a friendly atmosphere, after lunch it was time for group games and entertainment, so drowned in playing, we didn't realize the time had passed and it was almost 9PM when we arrived in Tehran.
Stay tuned for future experiences.
