MASHHAD
Khorasan is a province in northeastern of Iran and the historical region of Khorasan, once the largest province in Iran, is now divided into three adjacent provinces namely Northern, Razavi, and Southern Khorasan, but historically referred to a much larger area east and north-east of the Persian Empire.
Mashhad is the center and capital of the province and other cities and counties are: Quchan, Dargaz, Sarakhs, Fariman, Torbat-e-Jam, Torbat-e-Heydarie. It is famously known as the city of Ferdowsi, the Iranian poet of Shahnameh, which is considered to be the national epic of Iran.
The best time to visit Mashhad will be when the average temperatures are at a comfortable level (between 20°C / 68.0°F and 30°C / 86.0°F on average) which is during months June, July, and August. Other great months to visit Mashhad are April, May, September, and October when the average temperatures are a little cooler.
The most popular souvenirs which can be find in Mashhad are: praying rug, perfumes, saffron and barberry.
In addition, not only religious tourism attracts tourists, but also eco-tourism attractions in north part of Mashhad including Shandiz & Torghabeh absorb travelers.
Imam Reza Shrine, Birds Garden, Paj Village, Tomb of Nader Shah Afshar and… are the most popular places in Khorasan and especially in Mashhad.
